70:01:02:27 -- Fall River County speed zone rule

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is proposing amendments to 70:01:02:27 - Fall River County speed zone rule. The effect of the rule amendments will be to: (1) establish a 55 miles per hour speed zone on Highway 18 in and around Edgemont; (2) establish a 25 miles per hour speed zone on U.S. Highway 18P in Edgemont; (3) clarify the starting and ending points of speed zones in Fall River County; (4) eliminate references to highway segments that have been removed from the state trunk highway system; and (5) repeal lower speed limits for certain truck traffic on U.S. Highway 18 in and around Hot Springs. The reason for adopting the proposed amendments is to eliminate outdated speed zone provisions, make the rules easier to understand, and enhance safety.
