If a jockey is prevented from riding his mount to the stand because of an accident to or the illness of either himself or his horse, he may walk or be carried to the scales, or he may be excused by the stewards from weighing in. The jockey may not ride a horse that is bleeding profusely or crippled by a broken bone past the public stands, nor may he attempt to lead him or have him led past the public stands.
