Terms used in this chapter mean: (1) "Blackjack," an ace and a second card with a point value of ten dealt as the initial two cards to a player or the dealer. Blackjack may not include an ace and a ten-point value card dealt to a player who has split pairs; (2) "Dealer," the person responsible for dealing the cards at a blackjack table; (3) "Hard total," the total point count of a hand which contains no aces or which contains aces that are counted as one in value; (4) "Shoe," a dealing device that has a compartment in which cards are stacked and that permits cards to be dealt at any given time; (5) "Soft total," the total point count of a hand containing an ace when the ace is counted as eleven in value; (6) "Tip bet," a wager placed by the player on behalf of the dealer.
