exfoliation. Chemical exfoliation in salons or booths must comply with the following practices: (1) Salons or booths, within the scope of their practice, may use chemicals or products, natural or synthetic, which act on or affect the epidermis layer of the skin; (2) All exfoliant products or formulations shall be of professional grade and used in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations; and (3) Any exfoliation preparation used must not remove tissue below the stratum corneum of the epidermis.
