The board shall inspect each funeral establishment in accordance with SDCL 36-19-31 to determine compliance with SDCL chapter 36-19 and this article. The funeral establishment shall correct a violation found during the inspection within twenty days of inspection, after which the board must reinspect the premises. The board may extend this time at its discretion. A violation that is not corrected during this time is cause for revocation or suspension of license. If at the time of renewal of the establishment license there is still a violation, the establishment license may not be renewed until the violation is corrected, but a temporary license may be issued for thirty days to allow time for correction of the violation. A funeral establishment shall pay the costs of the second reinspection and subsequent reinspections. A funeral establishment must be open for inspection. Refusal of inspection is cause for not renewing an establishment license as well as grounds for revoking or suspending an establishment license.
