of faculty in registered nurse programs. Nursing faculty members who teach in a program leading to licensure as a registered nurse must have the following qualifications: (1) An active, unencumbered license or a privilege to practice as a registered nurse in South Dakota; (2) A minimum of a graduate degree in nursing. However, adjunct clinical faculty employed solely to supervise clinical nursing experience are exempt from the graduate degree requirement; (3) For newly appointed faculty a minimum of one year of clinical experience in the area or areas of teaching responsibility; (4) A combination of education and experience relevant to the assigned area of teaching responsibility; and (5) For interdisciplinary faculty who teach non-clinical nursing courses, academic preparation appropriate to those areas of content.
