20:80:15:02Approved education programs -- Addiction counselor or prevention specialist.

Courses completed through a program accredited by the National Addiction Studies Accreditation Commission or the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs meet the individual course requirements of this chapter. The board may approve other education courses that demonstrate the required addiction counseling or prevention specialist educational competencies. An applicant requesting approval of an additional education program shall apply on a form approved by the board and provide a syllabus for the course to be reviewed. The burden is on the applicant to demonstrate that a course meets the education requirements for certification or licensure.
