Work experience and supervision requirements to become a certified addiction counselor, licensed addiction counselor, certified prevention specialist, or certified peer support specialist must be completed under a board-approved plan of supervision. Work hours and supervision acquired before a board-approved plan of supervision is issued do not qualify as work experience or supervision for purposes of certification or licensure.
