Sound and thermal insulation for a school bus must meet the following requirements: (1) The side, roof, front, and rear body panels, including the corner and the roof bows, must be completely insulated to deaden sounds and vibrations and to reduce heat transfer; (2) The insulation materials must be fire-resistant, UL approved, with minimum R-value of 5.5. Insulation must be installed to prevent sagging.
