The applicant for a renewed library science permit shall: (1) Adhere to the South Dakota Code of Professional Ethics for Teachers as set forth in chapter 24:08:03; and (2) Complete either: (a) Six education-related credits that consist of any combination of transcripted credits, specialized learning experience hours, or continuing education contact hours; or (b) Two years in a state-approved mentor program. If the applicant is employed as a school librarian, the applicant must provide documentation verifying that any required mentorship was provided by a school librarian during the first two years of employment when the applicant submits the first renewal application after first becoming employed.
