The procedure for accepting an object with mandatory restrictions is as follows: (1) The museum director recommends acceptance to the museum's collections committee; (2) The museum's collections committee recommends acceptance to the director of the South Dakota State Historical Society; (3) The director of the State Historical Society recommends acceptance to the board; and (4) The board votes on acceptance.
