41:06:07:03Hunting bison -- Equipment requirements.

Except as otherwise provided in this section, bison may be hunted only with a firearm that is at least .270 caliber and which produces at least two thousand two hundred foot-pounds of muzzle energy. During the Custer State Park trophy bull bison harvest season, as established in § 41:06:42:01, and during the Custer State Park non-trophy bison harvest season, as established in § 41:06:60:01, bison may be harvested with archery equipment as described in chapter 41:06:05.
