A preadmission screening and resident review is not required for an interfacility transfer. The transferring nursing facility is responsible for ensuring that copies of the individual's preadmission screening and resident review accompany the individual. For purposes of this section, an interfacility transfer occurs when the individual is transferred from one medicaid-certified nursing facility to another, with or without an intervening hospital stay.
