liens and estate recoveries. Any payment of medical assistance by or through the department is a debt due to the department if the individual is residing in any of the following: (1) A nursing home; (2) An intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities; (3) An adult foster care home; (4) An assisted living center; (5) A hospital swingbed; or (6) An institution for individuals with a mental disease.
