Medication administration in a residential program is the giving of medications, other than by the parenteral route or nasogastric tube, under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse. The person administering medicine shall: (1) Remove an individual dose from a previously dispensed, labeled container, including a unit dose container; (2) Verify the dose with the physician's order or medication administration record; (3) Give the individual dose to whom it is prescribed; and (4) Document the date, time, the name of the person administering the dose, and the dose given. A copy of a physician's order or prescription for each medication being administered must be kept in the client's clinical record.
