70:03:01:32.04Annual permit -- Overweight booster axle.

A permit-issuing authority may issue an annual permit which allows the movement on state trunk highways of a straight truck equipped with a booster axle whose loaded weight exceeds that allowed by SDCL 32-22-21 but does not exceed 600 pounds per inch of tire width. The permit may be issued under the following conditions: (1) The booster axle was installed on the truck before July 1, 1996; and (2) An application form is filled out which documents the following: (a) The name, address, and telephone number of the company or individual operating the truck; (b) The make, model, serial number, and model year of the truck; (c) The make, model, serial number, and year of manufacture of the booster axle; (d) The date the booster axle was installed on the truck; (e) The number of axles on the truck, including the booster axle and all center-to-center axles spacing distances; (f) The number of tires and the tire size for each axle on the truck, including the booster axle; (g) The applicant's name and signature; and (h) The date of the application. The permit is assigned to the truck equipped with the booster axle.
