Starting July 1, 2023, South Dakota would expand Medicaid to cover adults ages 18-64 whose income is at or below 133% of the federal poverty line, providing them the same health coverage currently available to other Medicaid recipients. The state would stop this expanded coverage if the federal government funds less than 90% of the costs, making the expansion contingent on federal financial support.
