This is a legislative commemoration—not a law change—in which the South Dakota Legislature formally recognizes and celebrates the LGBTQ+ and Two Spirit community in the state. The commemoration acknowledges that approximately 25,000 South Dakotans identify as LGBTQ+ or Two Spirit, praises the community's resilience and accomplishments, and commends organizations working toward equality and positive change.
