This bill allows healthcare providers to accept a minor's own informed consent for prenatal and postnatal care if the minor's parent is unavailable or physically or mentally unable to provide consent, without requiring parental involvement. The bill creates an exception to normal parental consent requirements specifically for pregnancy-related medical care. Emancipated minors are excluded from this provision since they can already consent to their own medical care.
