Section 12-4-1 — AMENDED
A person who maintains residence, as provided in § 12-1-4, within the state for at least thirty days in the three hundred and sixty-five days immediately prior to submitting the registration form, and who has the qualifications of a voter prescribed by § 12-3-1 or 12-3-1.1, or who will have such qualifications at the next ensuing municipal, primary, general, county, or school district election, is entitled to be registered as a voter in the election precinct in which the person maintains residence. A person eligible to vote may vote only in the election precinct where the person maintains residence. Section 2. Section 1 of this Act applies retroactively to any person who registers to vote on or after July 1, 2023. Section 3. Whereas, this Act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. 17
