Section 1-5-1 — AMENDED
The following are legal holidays in this state: (1) The first day of every week, known as Sunday; the (2) The first day of January, commonly known as New Year's Day; the (3) The third Monday in January, commonly known as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; the (4) The third Monday in February, the anniversary of the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, commonly known as President's Day; the (5) The last Monday of May, commonly known as Memorial Day; the (6) The nineteenth day of June, commonly known as Juneteenth; the (7) The fourth day of July, commonly known as Independence Day; the (8) The first Monday in September, commonly known as Labor Day; the (9) The second Monday in October, commonly known as Native Americans' Day; the (10) The first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year, commonly known as Election Day; (11) The eleventh day of November, commonly known as Veterans' Day; the (12) The fourth Thursday in November, commonly known as Thanksgiving Day; and the (13) The twenty-fifth day of December, commonly known as Christmas Day; and every (14) Every day appointed by the President of the United States, or by the Governor of this state for a public fast, thanksgiving, or holiday shall be observed in this state as a legal holiday. If the first day of January, the nineteenth day of June, the fourth day of July, the eleventh day of November, or the twenty-fifth day of December falls upon on a Sunday, the Monday following is must be observed as a legal holiday and shall be so observed; 25 and if any such. If the day falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday is must be observed as a legal holiday and shall be so observed. 2
