Social workers applying for multistate licenses under the social work licensure compact must now submit fingerprints for state and federal criminal background checks through the Division of Criminal Investigation and FBI before the board can issue their license. The board will review the criminal history results as part of its licensing decision and must keep this information confidential. This requirement is being added to South Dakota's social work licensing law.
