South Dakota would create a new crime of trespassing at places of worship, making it illegal for anyone to enter or remain on a church, synagogue, mosque, or similar building (or within 50 feet of its exits) during worship times if they intend to disrupt services, harass worshippers, or intimidate people through political pressure or threats of violence. This offense would be treated as a Class 5 felony. The bill takes effect immediately upon passage.
