This bill expands South Dakota's overdose immunity law to protect people who call for medical help during a drug overdose. Instead of requiring that someone actually request medical assistance, the law now protects anyone whose overdose is reported to emergency services by themselves or another person. The protection still applies only to drug possession charges when evidence comes directly from the overdose incident.
This bill does not directly amend codified state law.
