This bill makes it easier for disabled veterans and their surviving spouses to get refunds of property taxes they've already paid if they missed the deadline to apply for tax exemptions. The law now allows county boards to refund back taxes for up to four years if the veteran's disability claim was still pending when they should have applied, and creates a petition process for those who missed filing deadlines through no fault of their own.
