Cities and towns in South Dakota can now create their own property tax rebate programs for homeowners with owner-occupied single-family homes, approved through a local ordinance. These rebate programs can only reduce the property taxes that the municipality itself collects, and cities must issue rebates to any homeowner who meets the criteria they set in their ordinance.
