State officials and their affiliated political committees are now prohibited from accepting campaign contributions from certain state employees working under them, specifically department heads, the highest-paid non-head employees, and anyone reporting directly to the official. This restriction applies to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Attorney General, Commissioner of School and Public Lands, Public Utilities Commissioners, and state legislators. The law takes effect January 1, 2027.
