Small lodging establishments with 15 or fewer rooms can now get a state permit to use biological filtration systems (natural filtering methods) instead of traditional chlorine systems in their pools and hot tubs, as long as the systems meet water quality standards and pass annual inspections. Establishments that fail an inspection will lose their permit and can't reapply for a year, and the state health department will set specific rules for how these systems must be maintained and what applications must include.
