The amount of assistance paid to an assistance unit is computed by: (1) Adding the earned and unearned income and other benefits available to or received by the assistance unit, except unemployment compensation and disregarded and excluded income; (2) Subtracting the sum from the need standard specified in § 67:12:06:04.01; (3) Multiplying the remainder by eighty-five percent; (4) Rounding the resulting figure down to the nearest dollar; and (5) Subtracting unemployment compensation. No payment may be made to a recipient in any month in which the amount of the assistance payment, not considering recoupment amounts, is less than ten dollars. A recipient denied solely because of this limitation is considered an aid to families with dependent children recipient for all other purposes.
