Rulemaking activity

for child care services. A recipient desiring direct child care assistance must submit a completed, written, and signed application for assistance to the department. An application may not be submitted more than 30 days before the child care services are needed. An initial application must show a need for at least 30 days of child care services. The recipient and child must reside in South Dakota and the child must be a citizen of the United States or provide proof of resident alien status. An application becomes void if the department requests additional information and the recipient fails to respond within 10 working days after the request.
