monitoring requirements. The following requirements apply to all contaminant monitoring performed by public water systems: (1) The department may determine compliance or initiate enforcement action based on analytical results; (2) Each water system shall monitor at the time designated by the department within each compliance period; (3) Systems may apply to the department to conduct more frequent monitoring than the minimum monitoring frequencies specified; and (4) The department may increase the required monitoring frequencies if necessary to detect variations within a system such as fluctuations in concentration due to seasonal use or changes in water sources, or to characterize water system contamination.
