South Dakota is appropriating $87 million in federal funds through the Governor's Office of Economic Development to award grants that expand broadband internet access across the state. The money comes from a federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program and will help rural and underserved areas get better internet infrastructure. The bill declares an emergency so these funds can be used immediately rather than waiting for the normal budget process.
This bill does not directly amend codified state law.
