An Act to create a taskforce to study the impact of artificial intelligence systems on 1 the state. 2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA: 3 Section 1. There is established a taskforce to study the continued technological development 4 and impact of artificial intelligence systems on the state. The taskforce shall consist of: 5 (1) The following members, appointed by the Executive Board of the Legislative 6 Research Council: 7 (a) Two members of the House of Representatives; 8 (b) Two members of the Senate; 9 (c) One member representing the health care industry; 10 (d) One member representing the banking and finance industry; 11 (e) One member representing the retail industry; 12 (f) One member representing the manufacturing industry; 13 (g) One member representing the technology industry; 14 (h) One individual employed by a school district as a teacher; 15 (i) One individual employed by a school district as an administrator; 16 (j) The auditor of a county with a population of fifteen thousand residents or 17 more; 18 (k) The auditor of a county with a population that is less of fewer than fifteen thousand 19 residents; 20 (l) An official or employee of a municipality with a population of twenty 21 thousand residents or more; and 22 (m) An official or employee of a municipality with a population of fewer than 23 twenty thousand residents; and 24 (n) The sheriff of a county or police chief of a municipality; and 25 (2) One member appointed by the Governor; 25 26 26.242.23 2 1125 Underscores indicate new language. The Legislative Research 5 6 Council shall provide administrative support to the taskforce. 6 7 The taskforce shall report its findings and recommendations and any proposed 7 8 legislation, including whether the taskforce should be continued, to the executive board, 8 9 on or before December 1, 2028. The task force is dissolved upon the delivery of the report 9 10 to the executive board. 10 11 Section 2. This Act is effective beginning January 1, 2027. 11 12
