and control of pneumonia. Each facility shall arrange for an immunization for pneumococcal disease. If immunization is lacking and the resident's physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner recommends immunization, the facility shall encourage a resident to obtain an immunization for pneumococcal pneumonia within 14 days of admission. Documentation of the vaccination or refusal must be recorded in the resident's care record.
